Received my Red Hot Rookie Redemption today!
Written by Steve on August 13th, 2009Last month I pulled a 2008 Topps Red Hot Rookie Redemption card for #15 and promised to scan and post the card as soon as I received it. Well, here it is in all its shiny refracting glory:
“A injury to Moises Alou moved Nick up the Mets depth chart in 2008, and he hinted at his potential with his gap-splitting power and errorless play. On May 24, just six hours after his arrival in Colorado for his Major League debut, he took a shaving cream pie to the face from teammate Billy Wagner as a “reward” for crushing three doubles.”
Can you imagine how much demand there would be for this card if it depicted Nick Evans taking a shaving cream pie to the face?
I never heard of Nick Evans before I went to redeem this card. I want to say that he’s an up-and-coming prospect, but unfortunately he was sent back to the minor leagues earlier this year where he is currently struggling to hit over .200. At least he’s still only 23, so he’s got a couple years to work things out before time begins to work against him.
