Sacramento River Cats (AAA affiliate of Oakland Athletics)

Adrian was Baseball America’s 2006 High School Player of the Year.  He was drafted in the first round by the Philadelphia Phillies in 2006 and played in the All-Star Futures Game in 2007.  In July 2008, he was traded to the Oakland Athletics organization along with one other player for Joe Blanton.

While playing with the AA Midland RockHounds in 2009, he batted .326 and was promoted mid-season to the AAA Sacramento River Cats, where he batted .251.  While these numbers don’t look especially impressive at first glance, we have to remember that Adrian is only 21 years old and plays at 2nd base, which is traditionally not a position where offensive players play in.

Adrian compares favorably with Ryne Sandberg according to one analysis.

Look for him to make his major league debut in Oakland sometime in 2010.
