Nats Countdown to Opening Day: It’s tomorrow!!!

Sunday, April 4th, 2010

Happy Opening Day!  While the official Opening Day is today, Opening Day for the Nationals is tomorrow.  Unfortunately, I won’t be able to make it to the game because I have an infant daughter to care for.  Maybe next year I’ll take her to the game, but it’s exciting nonetheless… wondering now whether MLB TV will be worth it for me… not sure how much time I’ll have to watch baseball games.

Pack Break: 2009 Topps Series 2

Saturday, July 11th, 2009

2009 Topps series 2.  Hmm, this pack had 11 cards in it.  I think that explains why other packs in this box only had 9 cards:

#332 Chone Figgins

#412 Taylor Teagarden

#445 Joe Nathan

#408 Ronny Paulino

#505 Scott Olsen

Over his three full seasons with the Marlins, Scott was a rotation mainstay, piling up more wins and strikeouts than anyone on the staff.  In November 2008, he was traded with OF Josh Willingham to Washington, where general manager Jim Bowden characterized his new operatives as “two players who can spend a long time playing here.”

Topps Town #TTT37 Justin Upton

Age means little to Justin.  He drew scouts to his games at 13.  By 14, he was playing in summer showcase events.  The five-tool prospect made the Majors at age 19, and started for Arizona in 2008 at 20.

#403 Trevor Cahill (Rookie)

#637 Donald Veal (Rookie)

#654 Brian Schneider

#608 Cristian Guzman

A NICHE IN HISTORY: Late in 2008, Cristian set a franchise record with eight consecutive multi-hit games in one season.  Bryan Little did it for the Expos over two campaigns in 1983-84.

#521 Dana Eveland
