Topps 1993

1993 Topps wax boxes
Since I have wax boxes of both 1993 series 1 and series 2, I’ll go ahead and break them in series.
The 1993 Topps boxes announce, “NEW! PREMIUM QUALITY”, probably in response to Upper Deck cards that took the hobby by storm in 1990. Gracing the series 1 box top are Robin Yount and Ken Griffey Jr., while series 2 features Jose Canseco and Cal Eldred. David Justice, Barry Bonds, Roberto Alomar, and Mike LaValliere make cameo appearances on the sides of the series 1 box, while Craig Biggio, Randy Johnson, Alan Trammell, and Felix Fermin are on the sides of the series 2 box.
There are 36 packs per box and 15 cards per pack. Retail price per pack printed on the box is 69¢. The promotion for this year is a Topps Gold baseball card in every pack.
The series 1 box also comes with a really ugly poster promoting the product.

1993 Topps cards, front and back
Other key cards include Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Don Mattingly, Mark McGwire, Cal Ripken, George Brett, Pedro Martinez, Nolan Ryan, and M.Piazza/C.Delgado.
The card to chase when opening these packs is the Derek Jeter gold card, valued at $10-$25. I have about a 9% chance of finding it in my series 1 box.
