2009 Topps series 1 hobby box

The box for 2009 Topps series 1 features A-Rod on the front, with Babe Ruth’s mug poking out from every corner of the box.  Too bad A-Rod’s respect has gone down a lot since the steroid revelations last week.

The hobby box contains 36 packs with 10 cards per pack.  Packs with a relic card contain 8 cards.  The box has the typical Topps perforated display backing.  There is a new label on the box warning parents not to give the hobby box to kids under 6 years old, or they might eat the cards and choke.

This year there are 4 different pack designs that are randomly inserted into the hobby box.  I think this is the first year they are doing this.  Nice.  Each of the packs feature either Ryan Howard, Alex Rodriguez, Ted Williams, or Babe Ruth on the wrapper.

There are three promotions advertised on the box this year.  First, there is a Topps Town code card in every pack.  Second, there are Legends of the Game cards inserted randomly.  Third, there is one autograph or relic card per box.

Great Read. Your blog is a good reference point for these sets. As a vintage card collector, I find it interesting that Ted Williams and Babe Ruth are on the front of 2 of the 4 packs.

As a big time Yankees fan they need to burn all those Boston Red Sox Ted Willams covers. Also, what do you mean A-Rods respect has gone down. Everyone will forget about it in due time. Just likem they have forgotten about Manny Ramirez steroids violation and David Ortiz steroids use. Come on man. You cannot knock a good player like that around.
